The key differentiator at First Atlantic HealthCare emerges as we effectively facilitate Quality Assurance Performance Improvement (QAPI) using data driven clinical and economic metrics to easily highlight opportunities for improvement and reproduce successes across our entire company. While data informs and provides the proper compass headings for improvement, it is the highly competent, caring and engaged employees in each facility that enable the excellent care experience First Atlantic facilities are known for.
The proven and innovative management practices First Atlantic HealthCare has implemented across our system, in collaboration with onsite leadership teams, have allowed facilities under management to achieve CMS 4 or 5 star ratings, driving superior care experiences for each of our guests and while enhancing profitability and long term sustainability throughout the organization.
Company History

Founded in 1985 by Maine entrepreneur Ronald C. Coffin, originally from Presque Isle, Maine, First Atlantic HealthCare remains a locally run company owned and managed by Mainers for Mainers.
As a local family business, we understand and connect to the needs of families requiring important healthcare services. This is why we have sought, through strategic partnerships with hospital systems and through acquisitions, to maintain a network of modern facilities throughout the state so that Mainers can access care as close to home as possible.
Now, 30+ years removed from our founding, First Atlantic manages 20+ facilities state wide and is in the process of updating the physical infrastructure of facilities under management in an effort to reaffirm our commitment to providing the highest quality patient centered skilled nursing, skilled rehabilitation, long term care and assisted living services in comfortable environments available to Mainers.
Since 2006, $40 million dollars have been invested in rebuilding and updating facilities state wide. Atlantic Heights in Saco, an 11,000 sf addition and extensive renovation to Seaside Rehab, Portland, Sylvia Ross, Bangor and the construction of two brand new facilities, Seaport Village, Ellsworth - featuring a 61 bed skilled nursing facility and the Inn at Seaport offering 30 assisted living accomodations, demonstrate First Atlantic's commitment to providing all of Maine with dignified, modern healthcare that centers on the patient experience.
